The Lineage

Rooted in the Legacy of King David

King David — מֶלֶךְ דָּוִד — was not merely a warrior-king. He was a poet, a musician, a man who wept openly before God and danced in the streets with his people. His harp, the kinnor, was an instrument of both worship and compassion — played to soothe the suffering, to lift the broken-hearted.

The founders of Harp of Hope Inc. are direct descendants of King David — 97 generations removed from the shepherd of Bethlehem. They carry his name not as a title, but as a responsibility. In Jewish tradition, lineage is not merely ancestry — it is a covenant. A promise passed from parent to child, generation to generation, that the work of repair and compassion must continue.

Tikkun Olam — the repair of the world — is not a metaphor for our founders. It is the literal inheritance of their bloodline. And so they picked up the harp.

"The harp does not play itself. Someone must choose to pick it up."

Who We Are

Naomi and Moshie Horn

Harp of Hope Inc. was founded by a family who believed that their heritage demanded more than remembrance — it demanded action. Raised in the traditions of Jewish faith and the values of chesed (loving-kindness) and tzedakah (righteous giving), they saw families in their community struggling and knew they could not look away.

They established Harp of Hope Inc. as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — not to give charity, but to restore dignity. To offer grants that help families get back on their feet, without shame, without judgment, with only the ancient promise: we are our brother's keeper.

King David — The Shepherd King

David, son of Jesse, rises from shepherd to king. He plays the kinnor — the ancient harp — before God and before his people. His reign is defined by compassion, justice, and the music of the soul.
